I am 39 weeks pregnant and feeling bad cramps since yesterday.?

the pains are only getting worse and I havent slept because theyre very painful. I went to the hospital today and they had me there for half an hour just to see how bad were the contractions but they werent too bad ..but they were before and they are now. she also checked my cervix and it still hasnt opened..no dilation. The nurse just said to rest and to come back if i have GREATER pains. What could I do for the pain? ..and when am I having my baby? in a few days? aprrox
