I am 17 and want to buy a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 for my first street bike.?

i know everyone says this is suicide, BUT i have been riding dirt bikes for almost 11 years and went from an RM 80 to a YZ 125 and now am riding a KX 500. I ride in the desert almost everyday for almost an hour and am a very experienced rider. I do believe i could handle the gsxr 1000 but would like some opinions on the matter. Thanks
 
be careful and ride what you like dude. I know most people start out with like a 600 or 750cc bike, but if you already ride a 500 then what could it hurt? Just be careful with that much power under you. I have a buddy who a steel pin in his spine now because a car pulled out in front of him and he couldn't stop in time.
