i always see ?'s about ovulation so im curious......?

we are trying to concieve but I dont want to make it a chore so we just "baby dance" when ever we feel like it lol my question is how do you know when your ovulating, what are the signs?
i had a miscarriage about 2 weeks ago so i dont have a regular cycle and before that i was on birthcontrol and did not have a period while on it.
