He said that with as clear as my x-rays are, sometimes they do them with an MRI beforehand, and sometimes the MRI doesn't show anything and they'll end up having to scope it anyways. I asked his opinion on what looked most probable in my case and he suggested skipping the MRI and going straight into the surgery. I can't say as I disagree, as I'd think a first hand account of what's in there would be better than some sort of computer do-hicky scan.
