...learn US History & Facts? My knowledge of US History is surprisingly limited (I like politics and how government works a lot better) and as a social studies teacher I think I should know a little. I’m not going to graduate yet and I will take US History 1 and 2 in college. Beyond that how can I learn more without taking too much time away from my other classes? The test I need to pass for teacher certification is also 40% US History so I need to know it for that too.

Really pay attention in your two US History courses and take an extra one if you have electives. That would be the best way to learn. If you courses don't go through the whole book, do it anyway. Perhaps you can find a practice audience and teach what you learn in those classes (since you learn best by teaching others!)

Visiting historical sites also helps learn a country's history.
