I hyperextended my back during a hard upside down wakeboarding fall. I was doing an inverted move and came down horizontally head first upside down, which caused the water to push my face backward and thus bend my body such that my back was extended too far (i.e. my head upper back was further rear of my pelvis). Its almost like I could feel my spine compress and right away I knew it was bad.
If I have no explained this right, I apologize, let me know.
So ive been to the ortho Dr a couple times, he did x-rays the first time, and said everything looks fine. He never did anything beyond that though, and just tells me very little and that 'it will just take a while to heal'
This was in Sept, so it has been a while. The pain is mostly when I sleep, depending on how I am laying. If I am on my side, I wake up with a stiff middle back and pain that seems to come from the spinal area. I am pretty convinced this is not a muscular issue, because it has been so long since the accident.
Overall the pain in bed and in the morning is not more than L2-3, and during the day never more than L1, more just an annoying thing, since I just know my back is not the same. Im not sure exactly what Ive injured...
Any advice? Thinking about a chiropractor, but Ive always not believed in them...????
