Hello,
I took this medication when i had surgery. I used it for about 13 days and just stopped taking it. My mom is a recovering addict and was addicted to this medication and a few others. So I was scared to take it and stopped it as fast as I could. It has been a few weeks now but I am wondering if I have been/am going through withdrawl symptoms. I read an atricle that said that the Symptoms of Vicodin withdrawal may include the following:

Hi, it's possible that you could be withdrawing, but I don't think so. You were on it for a very short time, what was the dose that you were taking? If it were high, then it actually may be wd's.

You may have an infection from your surgery and may want to talk to your doc first. I have had several surgeries and DID get an infection after that included some of the symptoms that you listed. If it is in fact wd's then they should only last a day or so.

Hope you feel better soon.

I agree w/magpie that it's unlikely that you are physically withdrawing from vic's. Everyone's different, but i had a mad hydro addiction and when i went through withdrawals (ick) even those for the most part were over within a few days. some lasted longer, but i had been taking upwarRAB of 150-200mg/day for over a year. i weaned down w/ a super awesome doc's help to 20mg's/day b4 i CT'd it but still , it sucked. I would say at day 20, you could be having some psychosomatic aftereffects; fear from your mom's addiction, and maybe you liked the effects of the pills a little too much for your own comfort. Maybe if you talked to someone in the field about how you're feeling it would help. Or us! You've taken a huge step just by identifying your feelings before they have a chance to overcome you!

Ya I am tryin to go through all of the possibilies why im not feeling well and it was a random thought it could be this. Yes they had me on a very high dose expecially for someone who barely takes tylenol. 5 tsp every 4 hrs. I hated the way I felt but it was better than the mind blowing pain. Mabye its not, but thank you for your thoughts!

this could also be somewhat surgically related too and other things you are also worried about as well? by the way, what did you actually do with any leftover meRAB? hopefully you got them out of the house in some way, just thinking of your moms situation here.

what did you have the surgery for? anesthesia also takes quite a while depending upon just what they actually used, to simply clear itself completely from anyones body post op. it does tend to also hit the liver kind of hard as well. anyone who is in a post op situation should just be drinking alot more water. this also helps with the constipation that just comes along with the narcotics themselves. after 20 days, i really do not think you would actually still be dealing with any level of actual WD at this point. the first two weeks are usually about the length of time that it would even realistically still be there for most. alot would also depend upon your own overall body physiology and how well your metabolism is running too. if you had been taking narcotics before the surgery for any good length of time or just been on the narcotics for like a month or so at that daily dose,THEN things would be a bit different right now for you.

i do think at least some of what you may be feeling is simply related to the overall stressors in your situation too,ya know what i mean? plus your body just underwent a trauma to it too and that does take awhile to just recover from itself. any surgical procedure is just kind of "seen/felt' by the body and brain as a level of trauma. alot of anxiety and stress can have a much bigger impact on some of us than you would think. hopefully this will all just run its course over like the next week or so. depending upon what you just had the surgery for, well that has to be taken into consideration too. knowing what that surgery was for would possibly help here too. you can go on kind of a roller coaster ride effect atfer any surgery with good days and bad days. i have had six surgeries and an aneurysm coiling all within 7 years and they all kind of came with their own little ups and downs too, both physically and mentally. please keep us posted on how things are going for you. marcia

I had my tonsills and my adnoiRAB removed. I have not taken any narcotics previously and I dumped it down the sink the day I thought to myself "hmmm if I just drank it I could go to sleep and forget....." Got scared and dumped it immediatly. My matablism completely sucks so idk. I appriciate your comments!!

that was probably a really really good thing that you did. just based upon what you stated in that last post? how are you really feeling here emotionally and mentally? if things are feeling a bit overwhelming for you now or at any time in the future, there are really great threpists you can talk to about all of what you are dealing with. i am sure the situation with your mom has had to have impacted you in many ways, probably alot more than you would even suspect. it affected my kiRAB with my past addiction crap.

you can speak with your doc about seeing someone to talk to about all of this. any good caring doc who is told about a patient,a minor? not too sure just how old you are here, that your moms situation is affecting you, they can give you a referral to someone who would be able to talk to you and you to them. they can also help you with learning skills and other tools to better cope with your situation with your moms addiction issues and just things you are dealing with here with life, in general too.

it just sounRAB like you have way too much to deal with from your posts right now. there IS some help for you out there, all you have to do is ask for it. i just wanted to let you know this stuff. hopefully things will get on a much better track soon. but just keep what i told you in the back of your mind somewhere if you are not feeling up to it right now,K? you DO have some options for yourself since you cannot control your moms behaviors, ya know? please let me know how you are doing frogans(interesting name, lol). marcia
