hydrocodone withdrawals

I am taking 40-50 mg of hydrocodone a day, one every four hours, to treat pain. Does anyone have any experience weening off of that much? I am getting ready to have spinal surgery on my neck and am having exaggerated pain if I forget to take it every four hours. When it is out of my system I get really cold, exaggerated pain, and extreme anxiety. I am worried that after the surgery I will not be about to get off of it. Does anyone have experience with slowly getting off of this without taking other meRAB?

Hey there AaronKam....... Can you explain your situation a little more? The hydro your taking right now.....did your dr. prescribe these and are you taking them as prescribed? SounRAB like your getting some withdrawl when you don't take them. As far as after your surgery, I would think your dr. would prescribe some kind of pain medication afterwarRAB. Talk to him/her about your concern of addiction.

I weaned myself off of 60mg of hydrocodone per day, 70 days ago. I tapered down 1/2 a pill per day, per my doctor's instructions, and it was successful. I have never looked back. It can be done, but I would suggest speaking with a doctor so you get the best results for yourself. Tapering this way gave me the least amount of wd symptoms. I still had the symptoms, and they were not fun, but I was determined, and it could have been a whole lot worse. Good luck to you. This is a wonderful place full of supportive people. I did a wean down program but it was a fast one and was miserable!!!! So... If you did something more like TaCot did... you will come off it with less trouble that doing it the fast way or Cold Turkey. Your doctor can set up a plan with you once you are done with your surgeries and what not.
