My husband is currently in boot camp and in his 3rd week he injured his knee...he basically dislocated it and after the MRI results, it shows that he will need some type of surgery to get that fixed. He said he doesn't know what's going to happen in the meantime, there are several options...one of course he gets sent home and there's another one which I can't seem to find any information on...something called P.E.M...he said if he gets lucky, he will get that and he will be in MRP (Medical Rehab Platoon) on "light duty" for up to 180 days (6 months) and after he will still be a Marine (on paper pretty much) and he'll get some type of "benefits" and he will never get deployed (due to the injury)...does anyone know what the heck this stands for and what it really is???? Is it just me, or does it all just seem to good to be true.
ps-he's trying to be a Marine.
Hahaha, well those were some quick answers....yep I knew it was too good to be true! In that case, send him home NOW!!!! screw this whole thing! Not only has he NOT been able to send money home to me either (recruiter told him he would be able to get his direct deposit into our joint account, LIE!!!) but now that he's in MRP, it will only take longer for him to send money home! We have a 2 yr old, another one on the way in February and I stay home with our daughter, so I'm not working! They did say for him to have some type of 'savings' set aside for this but when he said he wasn't ready to go to bootcamp because he hadn't saved up for anything, they just rushed him and told him this would all get taken care of while he is in bootcamp....on Monday it will be 4 weeks since he's been gone and nothing has been resolved. =/
