Husband blows thing so out of proportion over me complaining about groping?

I love my husband very much and I know he loves me like crazy. My biggest issue though is that he always trying to grope me no matter what, I can be working over a stove with oil popping at me and he'll still be grabbing at me. We are both into some more kinky stuff in the bedroom and out at times but honestly that's for when I'm worked up too. He says it's his way of showing love to me and that I should appreciate it. I ask for cuddling or get ready to cuddle him and suddenly I'm getting groped and/or humped.
I've said something about it a few times but today after he came home from PT and started up on groping again (after being a complete grumpy *** when he woke up and left) I said something again after attempting to get him to stop. He decided to take it way out of proportion and say "Fine then I won't look at you for a ******* week, will that make you happy? Maybe you'll appreciate my love then."
I complained of course over him over exaggerating, and he got even worse telling me I was getting exactly what I had asked for. This isn't what I asked for when I said he was groping me too much, when I said I wanted more loving touching or just non-sexual holding for a little bit didn't even say I wanted him to stop groping completely, just not in every spare moment.
What can I do or say?
Like I said, not asking to stop completely just to show me some loving non-groping attention also without me starting it. Of course even when I do start it I get groped or humped *sigh*
