For the last 8 months or so i've been running a humidifier in my living room. The last time i cleaned it it will not turn on. I never realized how much it helped me until i didn't have it anymore! My sinuses hurt :( I tried calling technical support but they are open when i'm at work. I went to purchase another one and they said it is seasonal... ugh

anyway... there are some with hepa type filters, ionic silver to control bacteria.. etc... anything to get you to spend money

You might try checking smaller local drug stores to see if any of them have one in the back room (they typically don't have the clout to return seasonal products to the manufacturer or distributor).

As for the bells & whistles, I just use the basic models - none of them really seem to last that long and I'm not sure the extra money really gets you anything (both of mine are Vicks brand - one is cool mist, the other is steam, each cost about $30 and when they break they go in the trash without much regret).

i definitely want one that does not have ot be filled every single day. The one that konked out on me was a 4 gallon. My poor old dog (16 yr old) is noticing the difference too.. he is coughing more :(

I did get a 1.5 gallon store brand one last night. It will tide me over till i can call support on the other one. There was a $70 vicks germ free one but it was still only 2 gallon. If i'm going to shell out that kind of money it will be on a 4 gallon.

It did make a difference. It just worries me running it all day.. I don't think the smaller ones are made for that. I had a better night and morning with it on. A lot less sinus pain

I haven't had it a year yet. So.... I thought, i'll call their tech support line. I had to wait till a day that i got off early but it was completely worth it.

I fully expected a list of troubleshooting like you have to do with any type of electronic device. Nope! gave her the serial nuraber, she asked when i purchased it. I told her this past winter. She said, well we don't have any to ship you right now, but are expecting a shipment in about 3wks and we can have it directly sent to you. I did not have to prove when i purchased it or troubleshoot it. All they asked was that i cut the power cord and send it back. I get to keep the old for spare parts.

This was the shortest support call i've ever been on (i'm a IT person..so i've been on long calls).

So here is my plug for Hunter Fan company! they have humidifiers, fans, thermostats, air purifiers. I did buy the one that had a 5 yr warranty...not sure if this is their policy or if things easily break... Any way...$70-80 replacement at no cost! ha!
