Human mythical beings?

I'm considering writing a story that's been plaguing me for some time. Every now and then I try to get myself to drop it, because the plotline for it is meant to be very mysterious and complex; it would take a lot of research to make it happen. It's a fantasy epic, about a treasure hunt and so far the main character is a witch. Rather than have her companions be witches, I thought I'd look into other mythical beings (with human like looks or qualities) that can be used.
I wanted to change it up since so many movies, books and shows deal with "witches.
What other human-like mythical/magical beings are there besides witches and wizards?
I've thought of elves, like in the Lord of the Rings, or maybe there's some sort of human like water sprite.
 
Don't use elves or vampires, as they have been very popular lately and you will probably be accused of copying. Think of mythology - Nymphs, Centaurs, Satyrs, Dryads - lots of stuff to work with there.

make up your own beings that have different powers but look like humans.
