Huge report due soon-PLEASE HELP ME!?

So I have a huge report on photography due soon and need help fast! Everytime I serch this q on google I get "how did YOU get started in photography?" instead of "How and why did photography get started?" so theres the question (How and why did photography get started?) and please help :)

Also look up henri cartier bresson (sp?) he was one of the first to put photography on a artistic footing

you could look at camera obscura type of painting. where the scene was projected unto a wall and an outline of the projection was created.
