I want to buy a new home theater system for my living room. I'm buying a new LCD TV that supports Full HD (1080p). Which of these options would you recommend, and why?
1) Buy a DVD Player and a Media Streamer, and connect the TV input, the speakers, the DVD Player and the Media Streamer to a Receiver (which I would also need to buy).
2) Build a HTPC, which should include a TV capture card, a remote control and an externally powered sound card (so the speakers would connect to the PC directly), a DVD Drive and a display card that would have a HDMI output. That way I don't have to buy a DVD Player or a Receiver, and everything would run though the HTPC.
Please be specific in your answer. If you have, for example, a way to improve the HTPC, or some detail that I've forgotton, please let me know!
