HTML important question about linking?

New member
I have few word documents
and powerpoint presentations
plus pdf files
and also mp4 files...

Now, I want to have a main page.. like make a simple html that will show links to each of them.

Like if I want to see the pdf... Apples.pdf.. i'll just click it on the main page in firefox and the acrobat reader will pop up and show the file...
and if it's doc. the word processor will show.. ......video.. the player will show.. etc..

please provide help.. suggestions.. comments.. and links to website how to do this..
