HTML coding question. Javascript could be a possible answer.?

So I'm making an HTML file for school on Frederick Douglass and 2 slave narratives. I want to be able to have a drop down box that has 2 narratives and the fredrick douglass book PDF. I know how to make the drop down box but i want to know how to make it so when i select different option in the box it will change the document under the box. Or when you change the option in the box the submit button will change where u will be directed depending on the option you chose. Would this require javascript?
