HTML coding and Python Q...?

I've been practicing with HTML and have learned that I can type HTML code into Microsoft WordPad, save it as a 'Plain Text' document, and have it visually display on a browser the way I want the code to appear.

My question is, if I can do that with WordPad what is the use and functionality of software like Python? Can I create what I want, if I become proficient enough, just using WordPad or are there certain things that I can't do without a dedicated HTML programming software?

Thanks.
Thanks for everyone's input. I do intend to create an interactive website but more importantly, I just want to learn how.

Can anyone recommend a step 2 in creating an interactive website? I'm still at the 'learning HTML codes' step for now, but wondering what I should learn next.

Thanks
