HTC pure or samsung mythic?

I'm curious about which cell phone I should upgrade my shine, which was waterlogged in an accident on a kayaking trip. I've narrowed my possibilities down to two ( Iphone being beyond my price range as i believe that would be an extra 30 dollar bill a month added on to what I currently pay ) phones: the HTC pure & the Samsung Mythic. I'm an avid texter, and I've never had the capability to browse the web on a cell phone which I think would be insanely cool which is is why I was drawn to the pure in the first place. But i'm wondering if I should just spring for the iphone since I would have to pay 15 a month for a data plan for the pure. I'd like an unbiased comparison between the two, followed by any personal experience or opinion that you might have of either phones. And for that matter how much does owning an iphone, bare minimum, cost a person a month? Again i'm curious about these two phones so please don't turn this into an iphone worshiping thread delving into its many wonders and amazing features that will only end up making me want what I probably can't have even more so than I already do.
