Ok I know some of you are like what? Hear me out lol.

Through Sprint I can get the Hero for $80, paying $19.99 sharing 1500 minutes with unlimited data. The Evo would cost me $299.99 upfront costing $199.99 bottom line after the Mail-In rebate clears. The plan would of course cost $29.99 because of the 4G fee.

What I want out of a phone is the ability to always be connected with my email accounts and the internet when I need to find something or to pass the time. Being able to use the phone like a Garmin has its appeal too. That said, im not sure there's enough difference between the Evo and Hero to justify the extra cost the Evo entails? On one hand the Hero is cheaper but its going to be officially out of date when Android 2.2 is released. But in that light, you're always going to be playing catch up with technology.

My other question is, will unofficial roms be able to emulate Android 2.2 on the Hero? I'm unfamiliar with using unofficial roms so im not sure what they're capable of. I do know the Hero's CPU is slower. Which ever phone I select it will be my first experience using a phone with a data plan.

What do you say?
