Htc Hero stuck in airplane mode. Please Help.

I have encountered a bizarre problem with my hero. I have two At&t sim cards both work fine in other phones, but one of the sim cards would cause the Hero to boot up with airplane mode turned on and it cannot be turned off, so I can't get a signal. However the other sim card also from at&t works fine(identical cards and cellphone plans). I am 100% sure that the sim cards are in good condition and have tested them in other phones. I have searched everywhere but couldn't find an answer. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

Try getting the Sim card with the problem into another phone and go to setting to toggle airplane mode on and off, then some other junk. Then try it over in the hero. But maybe its just something in the setting of the Hero you tinkered with or needs to be tinkered with.

There is nothing in a SIM or USIM setting radio on/off, may just be a bad or incompatible SIM

THe phone likely went into airplane mode/radio off as it cannot address the SIM properly.. I would see about getting the SIM swapped out...

Salut,

I have the same problem with a Nexus S and a Vid?otron SIM card. The Nexus S is able to read a T-Mobile SIM card, and the Vid?otron SIM card works in a Nexus One... This is weird...

I will check with friends that are also on Vid?otron to see if their SIM card works in my Nexus and then I'll need to get another oe from Vid?otron... I read in other forums that some people have succeeded in getting the Nexus S working with Vid?otron...

Otherwise... I'll see if I need to go back to Rogers (I'm lucky enough to have the option to get a Nexus S with Rogers/AT&T or the Vid?otron/T-Mobile 3G frequencies)... But I would prefer to stay on Vid?otron... ;-(

Did anybody else have this problem an found another solution?

Thank!
