HTC evo 4g screen wont rotate?

I cant get the screen to go into landscape when im on the internet or sending a message. This is incredibly annoying. I went to display in the settings and calibrated it but that did nothing. I also set the screen to auto-rotate, but that makes it stay in landscape and now i cant get back to portrait -.-. This only just started happening... any ideas?
