Htc Droid Eris Verizon Data plan?

I am with verizon cell phone service. I can get a upgrade right now. I want the HTC Droid Eris. I have a question of the data plan. With the Droid Eris, I can get wi-fi. Do I have to get the e-mail Internet plan if I have wi-fi???? How much would it be every month?? What is the cheapest cell phone service data plan??? ( At&t, T-Mobile,Sprint,Cricket)???
