HTC Droid Eris Problems! Help?

For some reason my HTC Droid Eris shows a bunch of force quits from different thing running on it (and I don't think they're all apps) and it says it has an update and it says it's verifying and when it finishes updating it restarts and starts the whole process all over.. the force quits and the varifying of the update. I've tried turning it off.. taking the battery out and all that.. nothing helps. I'm afraid it has a bug or something. =[
