HTC Dream (G1) Slide Detection Problem

Hey ive got a bit of a problem, the slide detection on my G1 doesnt work anymore. So the phone doesnt know if the keyboard is out or in meaning that i cant activate my phone as it asks u to slide the keyboard out to enter ur google account.

I was wondering does anyone know a way around this, any system commands that might let me enter my account details? or is there any repair guides/replacement parts i could use to solve this?

Hey, I have the same problem with my G1.
I got it working but with a lot of contacts and other stuff and I made the reset that is on the data menu.
Now I turn it on and I can't sign in with my gmail account because the phone doent detect when I slide the get to the keyboard.
What do I do?
OBS: I do not have wireless connection at home
 
For anyone whos interested i finally got round to fixing it. It turns out the keyboard ribbon cable had a whole in it. So just put a new keyboard in and its fine.
