HTC dream (G1) freezing and restarting?

i currenty have a google g1 given to me as a preseant but after owning for 2 weeks it keeps freezing and wont turn off. the only way it will turn off is to take the battery out and put it back in. when i put the battery back in a blank screen comes up and the phone keeps restarting. what should i do?? if i have to contact htc what is the link and what do i say?? thanx
