htc desire z gives error when downloading apk's?

i tried following a video to get free paid apps by going on 4 shared. When i type in an app like doodle jump.apk for example, i download it but it says that this file is not supported. i press download anyway and it downloads as .bin I try to open it but nothing happens. Please help
