HTC Desire or iPhone 3G?

I've got an iPhone 3G at the min but have a craving to go to android, would it be a mistake? I know the iPhone 4g is gonna be out next month but it's gonna be to expensive even on contract, so which would u rather have the htc desire or my current iPhone 3g? Don't wanna make a wrong move
