HTC Desire on 3 mobile, no signal.?

I have bought the HTC desire on 3 mobile, and I have had the phone for about 24 hours. Earlier in the day (when I had signal) I tried to make a call, but I got a message from 3 saying I need to wait 24 hours for my phone to be registered/activated. However, roughly 24 hours later, I have no signal at all - emergency calls only- it says "limited service" and zero signal bars :/
Its important for me to get this working ASAP, can anybody help me?
