How'd you say "I must confess" in French?

But in the context that you've done something wrong but like an articulate tail of an opinion. Saying 'I must confess that the weather was not brilliant so the cessation of our duly awaited excursion was inevitable'

Is this the right phrase to use in this context? If so, should it be il faut [something] or je dois [something]?
