How would you interpret this law?

(d) He persistently and knowingly induces, assists or causes a minor to disobey his parent or guardian.
I know it means that but what I am trying to get at is for example if a minor were to go to the movies with someone who is 18+ but did tell their parents they are going to the movies but not that it's with someone who is an adult could the adult they went with be considered to have broken that law?

It means just what it says, that an outside party is trying to get a minor to disobey.

If you don't know what the terms "induce," "assist," or "cause" mean GET A DICTIONARY!

It means that a person has encouraged a minor to ignore the directions of his parents. For example: "They can't keep you at home if you don't want to be there. Just sneak out after they go to sleep."

Edit: Based on your example, I would not consider the spirit of the law to have been violated.
