How would you 'improve' Gundam ZZ?

A few months ago I got my second (after Gundam v. Zeta Gundam) exposure to Gundam ZZ, the black sheep of UC Gundam, playing through Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2. A show notorious as a light hearted follow up to the Gryps War of Zeta Gundam, I actually really came to enjoy Double Zeta's characters and the general plot outline of Double Zeta, as seen in DWG2.

While I've myself some general ideas for what I'd like to see done with the plot and characters, I'd like to see what y'others got to say. What would you cover with a film trilogy, or a fully length series? Would the silliness be dropped, or retained with tighter writing? How would you handle the series? Would you synch it up with the history present in Char's Counterattack?

ZZ is probably my least favorite Gundam series of the U.C. era but I'll admit that there's a lot need for improvement and if any interest comes forth with a compilation movie like Zeta.

Ideally, ZZ should be pieced together within 105 minutes a piece (1h:45m). However, some have noted it may need to be longer in order to not rush things.

COMP MAP:
Movie 1: Shangri La and space stuff. ZZ gets introduced halfway through this. Most people agree that most of Shangri-La can be cut with consequence. Focus on Mashymre and Haman's vision for Zeon. Yazan/Junkzaku battle -> initial Hamma-Hamma battle; Roux is lost & Glemy's debut -> Qubeley/Puru/Chara fight. Movie enRAB with the descent to Earth. [Episodes 1 - 23]
Movie 2: All the Earth stuff. Focus on Leina's Blood and Dublin arc. Movie enRAB with the Dublin colony drop. [Episodes 24 - 36]
Movie 3: The return to space. Start with them switching over to the Nahel Argama, and Bright stepping down. Here we skip Tigerbaum and just get to business. Final battle between Glemy's forces, Haman's loyalists, and the AEUG crew. [Episodes 37 - 47]

GENERALLY AGREED UPON IDEAS:
- Working off Zeta TV ending (mind crippled Kamille).
- Remove Moon-Moon.
- Remove Tigerbaum.
- Integrate Glemy more into the story from beginning, showing motivations earlier and with more thought behind them. Work more on Glemy's motivations and rise in power.
- Make ZZ less super and and cut down on henshin sequences.
- Possibly make Beecha and Mondo not traitors and to not make Chara a prisoner.
- Saegusa's death neeRAB more feeling.
- Remove forced Beecha/Elle pairing at end.
- Hint at Judau becoming Grey Stork somehow.
IDEAS PEOPLE SEEMED TO DISAGREE ON:
- Remove desert battles; they are not important for story flow.
- Kill off Leina permanently. Alternatively, keep her survival a surprise until the very end.
- Insert Char into ZZ in some form using Zeta stock footage. (someone recommended a flasrabroadack to the Dakar speech)
- Remove the Mega Rider.
- Less Chara and Mashymre.
- Edit Yazan's scenes in a way to have him die in GLORIOUS BATTLE or remove him completely.
- Keep Haman alive somehow.

SCRAPPED IDEAS; FOR REFERENCE ONLY:
- Have Glemy meet Char and be influenced by him.
- Remove Hyaku Shiki.
- A bigger presence of Titan remnants.
- Replacing a battle with Neo Zeon with Zeta stock footage to depict one with Titan remnants.
 
Well, Haman's suicide, for better or worse, allowed Char's Counterattack to commence easily. A big colony full of Zeons wanting revenge, but no leader? Char to the rescue!

Basic stuff is cut down Shangra-la to like an intro 10 minutes at best, cut out crap like Moon-Moon, and most of the other stuff is decent.

ZZ is slow at the beginning, very good in the middle, and wtf kinda bad at the end.

Maybe an extended scene with Kamille coming back from the retardation.
