How would you hand draw neon lights?

I have a school project on the element neon and was wondering how would you approach hand drawing the word neon for my title so it looks like neon lights. I'm a good artist too, i paint and use pastels and watercolors too, but i don't want to use any of those mediums, just something simple like colored pencil, crayon, marker, maybe pastel. It's harder than you think...Just try it yourself.
