How would you go about starting a career in Media?

I would be interested in a career as a Film critic or Journalist. My GCSEs predicted grades are average and i am predicted a C for English, in college i have picked Critical thinking, Philisophy and Film studies but has anyone got any guidence or useful information which could help me? Thankyou
