gelding
8yrs old
past unknown besides was beat.
papered
spooky (skittish of EVERYTHING)
has half blue eyes (possibly blind maybe?)
about 15hhs
rears frequently and backs butt up to you but the owner said he just wants you to pet it?
owner says its normal for a horse to rear when afraid.

i have a round pen, know how to break a horse correctly Clinton Anderson style.
but is there a special way to approach this horse since hes scared of the WORLD?
chances are he will be any good? or should i get rid of him and put my time in another horse?
love challenges but not sure how to deal with spooks.
severely head shy as well.

Thank you
i use the change of direction in lounging (clinton anderson) sorry parelli lover.
i just wanted to know, should i start immediately by placing bags on the round pen? and then working or? when to introduce, he seems explosive but owner likes how pretty he is, and wants him trail ready in a month =( i dont normally hurry but i think if i can get ground manners working im going to assume he will follow with ridding manners since he appears to be broke, the lady before who adopted him, said she put a saddle on him, and lounged and did nothing. no buck rear spook or any bad behavior.
he reared the whole way into the corral and i did not think it was beautiful like his old owners did.
Ive worked with plenty beaten starved, abused and just plain bad horses. and owners. but i haven't delt with an OLDER spooky horse, in the young years it goes away. i will not let this horse back me into a wall though. that is what he does when he "wants attention?" and i will not allow that. i dont mind working with the horse, and learning from him, but i dont want to do this one like all the rest, im a bit worried the spookiness will remain and thats what i really need to cure. the owners said it may have been his eyes. they both have some blue in them.
Well so dam far i have never had a bad reference and trained most of them the same way. a lot of the horses were headed to auction and this was their LAST chance. and i have about 18 references and and worked with a lot more than that. i do not have a stallion. the stud you though i had has been a gelding for the last 6 yrs of his life (lol hes 7yrs old) and the black "stud" you mean Echo my mare. Until you meet my horses dont judge them. and i am the professional around here. if not me you have some little bratty 11-14yr old girls pretending by whipping the horses into round pens, trailers and looking all pretty doing it too. oh and they have the nerve of charging $450 a month when i charge $200 a month. and it takes between 1-2.5 months for a good started horse.

so. are you one of those 11-14yr old stuck up bratty girls? wannabes?

RON SR: I will try it my normal way. Ive decided on that and will treat him like a 3yr old and if hes still badly spooky then heavy desensitizing, tarps
