How would one track the original writer/author of a forward email msg?

Sheesh!

I get forwarded email messages like most people do. Some are nice, some are helpful, some are just annoying and chain emails. I just think it's annoying when it says in their email that you have to email it to 10 of your friends OR ELSE... blah, blah, blah. It always make me wonder who wrote the original email message.

Is there a way of finding out?

No, more or less. Somewhere along the line somebody surely cut the message down, or someone sent it new. They're like urban legends, everyone's heard the story but no one knows who started them. But if a string of the emails are attached just go to the last one and see who sent it - that doesn't mean they originated the email, likely they passed it on as well. I usually cut off all the previous emails when I forward any, hate the idea of giving out email addresses to anybody who may get the email after I sent mine. I agree, I hate the chain letter dictum that so many of them contain.
