How would I teach my dogs to hunt small game?

A little Background info:
On the first weekend of every october, we head on out to Lousiana. For as far back as my great grandfather can remember(which is really far), the "men" would head out to the camp sight we've always used, and they would hunt squirrel. Us girls, would stay home and shop and stuff like that. Well, i never was one for all of that. I shoot better than half of the men out there, and I shot my first 22 when i was seven. But its a rule that girls aren't allowed out there, it always has been.

Why i'm asking::
I made a deal with my dad.
If I can train my two dogs, a west highland terrier, and a mutt
(I think she's a german shepherd and some small dog, but my parents swear she's a lab) to hunt small game, and to be good at it, then we'll show the boys at camp, and we'll be allowed out there. My mom hates the idea, but I love it. The idea of being out there with them...:)))

My Question:
My westie is from a longggg hunting blood line, and she'll go chasing rabbits down the street, but how do I train her to track and follow scents?

My mutt, Dixie, do you think i could train her to hunt? She hates the water, so retrieving is a deffinant NO. But what can I do with her?

Any videos, tips, information, websites is greeaaaatly appreciated.

Happy Hunting:)
Sorry. That^^ wasn't clear.
Basically, how would I train my dogs to hunt and track small game like rabbit, squirell, and racoon?

If one is actually a hunter then always take both dogs together and the other will follow suit....but take them out in the woods all the time....dogs are all natural hunters...they just need to remember.
