how would i change the gravel in my fish tank?

i want to change all of the gravel. its been blue for ages now and im thinking of changing it to a new colour.

im thinking i should take all the decor out, put the fish in a bucket of the water from the tank, and also put the filter in a bucket of the water obviously so the bacteria doesnt die n i dont hav to cycle the tank again.

then i will put the new gravel in, and use some of the old water to put back into the tank. does this sound good or..?
 
clean the rocks really good get all the excess dyes out. i had bright blue rocks and didnt clean them very g ood once and bam a few fish died. but ya spend a good amount of time rinsing them off.. i do it outside its alot easier
