scrutiny via Freedom of Information Act? Like Nancy Pelosi said - GOTTA PASS IT TO SEE WHAT'S IN IT!
Well the Fox Business Network found out what is in it when it filed a news media Freedom of Information request - The SEC who regulates Wallstreet and much of our financial system informed them that under the JUST PASSED FINANCIAL LAW - THEY ARE NOW EXEMPT.
So first off we are told that we need all these new regulations to "save" us from any future economic disasters BUT we won't really know that because the SEC been given the right to deny all request for information from the media or public.
Freedom of Information Act or FOIA was enacted in 1968 to help expose government and improve it by making it more transparent and thus more accountable. The New Financial Regulations Bill has just given the SEC the right to HIDE the truth from the American people and for what purpose might I ask as well.
This is how your Madoffs get to hide from view and the failures of the SEC to investigate and catch those who abuse of the American people will be tucked away in a file cabinet to be hidden forever.
DO YOU THINK IT IS WISE TO EXEMPT THE SEC FROM MEDIA & PUBLIC SCRUTINY VIA THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT APPLICABLE TO MOST OTHER AGENCIES???
DO YOU THINK MAYBE THE SEC HAS BEEN EXEMPTED FROM FOIA SO THAT THEY CAN INSTITUTE NEW REGULATIONS WITHOUT PUBLIC SCRUTINY AND INPUT FROM THE AMERICAN CITIZENS???
