How will new media platforms change viewing habits?

im a freshman in college and my media class is kicking my butt! this is one of the questions i have to answer for my hw and im just not sure what a media platform is.
 
A platform is a structure offering access.
Media is the generic term for news and entertainment dissemination via new papers and magazines, television and the internet.
Newspapers are dying on their arse. TV is mostly rubbish and advertisers are moving away. The new platform for information of all kinds in via the WW web. Words and moving pictures.
The problem is that its mainly free which doesn't help the media make a buck. They are working on it but the public say piss off.
