How well will a 29er mountain bike get air?

im thinking of either getting a really nice 29'' rim hardtail mountain bike or a very nice mongoose dirt jumper with rock shox(the other one has rock shox too). i want to be able to ride the local trails, tracks etc., yet i still want to be able to go off my dirt jumps and all, can a 29er handle jumps?
