How well does IMAP work vs POP on e50?

So i have had my e50 for probably 6 hours now and have decided i cannot live without a data plan to get my email etc.

So im now going to get a data plan and setup my school email, now the question is how to set it up. Should i use IMAP or POP, i have my laptop setup with POP to download mail older then 6 days, i have my work computer setup via IMAP so it does not interfere with my archiving on my laptop of email. So im figuring that i should setup my e50 with IMAP, but how is the performance with IMAP with say never more then 30-50 email in the inbox at a time.

And when my laptop deletes then off of the server after 6 days will they still show up in my IMAP inbox since i have previously viewed them.

Or on any phone? the only problem i seem to encounter with IMAP (since that is how i have it setup) is that the mail status light does not blink when i get a new email, though i does play the chime.

The main difference between POP and IMAP is IMAP's ability to support multiple mail folders. Also IMAP can support IMAP IDLE which will allow for a push email type operation. (I don't think it works in push mode on the phone by default though)... it can check every so often but that's about it.

POP can be setup to not delete e-mail just as well as IMAP. POP is more setup for quick gets and not continuous connections or multiple folders.
