A Cellist, a Poodle, and Something About Cheese
While you were out
the cellist did call
refused to strum a string
til early next Fall
Calmly, I questioned
his undue phone ire
"Tis the cheese" he cried
"My carpet's on fire"
Not understanding
this poor souls current crisis,
He soon began demanding
his poodle named Isis.
I hung up the phone
and then dialed your number
Your voice mail bemoaned
the strain I was under.
"This caller not available"
now where could you be?
I'd just sent you out
for flour and tea
Perplexed, and shrugging
the oddness away
I continued my tasks
went on with my day.
Another call rang through
I picked up the phone
that cellist again
"My poodle is gone!"
I said, "Please sir tell me
just what I can do?"
His ranting was surely
turning him blue.
"Tell your friend Larry
I've had enough
the orchestral cheese
is getting to tough"
So while you were out
this message I've left
a cellist, a poodle, some cheese
seeming bereft
So next time you finagle
some weird concert show
please keep your cell on
when shopping you go.
