How was the Dread Scott v. San(d)ford case a cause of the civil war?

They weren't causes of the American civil war. That is leftist propaganda.

Slavery was a curious sideshow in American history. No Confederate officer or soldier went to war over the slave; they did not fight, march, kill, or get killed over their chickens, cows, corn, slaves, pigs, or rice, but over state's rights, tariffs, banks, and the value of money. The Europeans call the American Civil War a 'banker's War' because it was so financially motivated. Slavery was not an issue of war for the North or the South.
