How was Hitler able to form the SA and fund election-campaign(s)?

I believe that he was a beggar initially and then became a small army-corporal during WWI. Thus, did he provide funds to maintain SA? If yes, from where did they come? If not, how was he and his party able to maintain and discipline the SA army without funding?

Moreover, how was he able to fund his initial election-campaign(s)?
