According to the Old Testament land of Canaan was conquered by the Hebrews, and it was eventually called Eretz Israel. Which breaks into ‘Kingdom of Israel’ and ‘Kingdom of Judah’.
However what did other civilizations Egyptians, Assyrians etc call it when it was Israel/Judah. Did they continue calling it Canaan, or was Judea norm (even during Israel).
Herodotus in around 5BCE called it Philistine Syria, and Romans after the revolt named it Philistina, so was this the normal term instead of Judea.
How did these civilizations view the Hebrews & Judaism. I would also appreciate sources (links, books etc).
