NO WAY you will do it without lift. Entire subframe must be removed to pull trans out bottom.

Take it to a shop you'll save money in the long run because if you happen to get it out you will never get it back in and working properly.

we're going to swap out the transmission in my 1993 buick lasabre. it's got the 3800. anyway, is there anywhere online that might show a step by step guide... or something helpful? or any tips or tricks? thanks.

awesome answer that first guy had. thats what everybody said about me swapping a 3.2l engine into a 2.7l dodge intrepid, things like "cant be done" "impossible" "not worth it". well ill have you know it was easy, worth every penny, and im glad i did it!

with that being said, just disconnect everything connecting the engine/transmission to the car, you'll have to drop it out from underneath so somehow you'll need to get that figured out. simple stuff, just dont break anything and note how it came apart. one thing i will say is that with an automatic transmission when you put it back on the engine, you have to put the torque converter on the engine then mount the transmission to it. GL, send me an email if you have questions.
