How to use right grammar and write intelligently?

I write like a grade schooler.... Sometimes I'll go over the things I wrote and it just doesn't sound right or intelligent.... I know I should read more, perhaps read the dictionary... But sometimes I use the wrong wordings or I just can't find the right word to express myself or what I want to say a times... What do I need to do to be a better writer...
