How to unlock my T-mobile G1?

My boyfriend recently locked his g1 from too many pattern attempts. I did a factory reset the only problem is I can't get pass the g1 activation google account. He does not have a data plan so he couldn't sign in. He bought the phone from a friend who forgot the gmail user name and password.

Is there anyway I can fix it?
