Hmm, how about trying one of these methods:
1) Take a deep breath, blow at the jack, insert the headsets into the headset jack, place a call, see if it works, then pulling it back out.
2) Try turning your phone off & then back on.
3) Go to your settings and find an option with headset, speakers, etc,. and try setting it off. (and if its a bluetooth, try finding bluetooth on your settings and disable it.)
If neither of this works, try calling Verizon or whoever your service provider is and ask. If you have insurance on it I'm sure you'll get a replacement.
