How to turn off data connection in HTC touch pro 2?

I just have a new HTC Touch Pro 2 and I don't know why in Settings --> Communications, the Data Connection just automatically goes on no matter how many times I turn it off. I've been trying to figure out how to turn it off permanently because I don't need Data Connection, but nothing seems to work. Everytime it's turned on automatically, Roger sends me a message telling me that I don't have a Data Plan. It's really annoying and driving me crazy.

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks a lot.
